How do you make an honest explosion?
I hope that there is an integrity with my work. When you see one of my explosion events I hope it reflects what I want the art to be. My work is created by an instinctive drive and a sudden inclination prompting the blast.
The explosions have a certain straight forwardness. When I light the fuse, there is no place to hide. (Although we should be back far enough to not get burned.) When the fuse is lit and before the explosion how do I feel? Nervous. Excited. Anticipating. Hope. What will happen? This is the moment of pure art!
Then, the explosion! The sudden outburst. Energy. Flame. Heat. Smoke. I feel a pressure change. The oxygen gets sucked out. Perfect. It is brief. It is honest. No place to hide.
Next, my art. Clean up the debris. And what we discover is primitive, modern, explosive, and beautiful.
My goal it to reach out to people like you that have a dynamic set of interests. And I hope those interests serve as a backdrop to primitive, modern, explosive art. Whether you are checking out my "Pop Art" or my abstract work it all comes down to honesty. I hope I defy your expectations.
