Something Is Wrong!
When I get to The Blast Factory it seems as though things are wrong. I can't put it onto words. So I draw with fire. I blow it up.
There is too much violence. Too much killing. Can't we all see that?
I can't see it, but I can feel it. An unarmed kid was shot by a cop in Madison last night. I didn't see it. I don't know the details. But I can feel it. It feels wrong.
The kid is dead.
We need answers.
I reach out to find things. I blow them up.
My explosions are hard to describe. Each one is different. I can't put them into words. So, I photograph them. I light the fuse. I shoot dozens of frames per second to catch something. There is something I can't see in the blast. I'm searching for it.
Purity. Power. Brightness. Light.
We need answers.
Someone told me God made two great lights. The greater light to govern the day. The lesser light to govern the night. I don't believe in God. God would stop the violence.
I ready my work. I light the fuse. I set it off. I hope it blows the violence away. I hope it lights the truth.
