Shallow Cross! The Greatest Play Ever?

DSCF1510.JPG

The shallow cross is quite possibly the greatest pass play ever.

So I had started a new abstract work for an upcoming show.  After multiple layers of paint and a couple of burns I stopped.  I realized the lines looked like pass routes on football drawings.

I lit another fuse and pushed on...I burned some O's for offense.  Some X's for defense.

Then looking for "speed in space" (I used a higher speed fuse) I sent a couple of receivers on crazy deep routes.  I sent the backs out there, too.  Wheel routes? One receiver we sent on a deep cross to pull the linebackers out of the way... then we sent a guy on fast "shallow cross"!

The defense - the X's - they have energy and go this way and that to defend things.

I'm not sure what the Quarterback is looking at.  There was a lot of smoke.  (This art gives a new definition of the term "hot read". ) So he loops around a bit.

If the defense blitz's we hope the "shallow guy" is looking quickly.

We expect our QB throws it to the open guy.

Almost every team in football runs some version of this.

You can buy it right here!  Shallow Cross

So who ever said football and art don't mix?

Boom!
